Strong Leadership

A message from Our Imam

A Quote from our Executive Director/Imam

At the Indianapolis Muslim Community Association (IMCA), we are dedicated to being a central hub for all the services our community members need. From spiritual guidance at Masjid Al-Fajr, education through our full-time and weekend MTI and Al-Ilm schools, to social support via our food pantry, zakat, free clinic, and Janazah services, we offer comprehensive care. We also prioritize youth empowerment through our Youth Council and women's empowerment through our Women's Council.

Message from the Executive Director

As the Executive Director of IMCA, my journey began in 2015 as a volunteer chair of Religious Affairs. In 2017, I became the Imam and Director of Religious Affairs, and on May 1st, 2024, I had the honor of being appointed as IMCA's inaugural Executive Director. My mission is clear: to professionalize IMCA and lead our Community, Organization, and its subsidiaries, including Masjid Al-Fajr, MTI School of Knowledge, Al-Ilm Weekend School, IMCA Cemetery, IMCA Food Pantry, IMCA Youth Council (Y-IMCA), IMCA Women’s Council (W-IMCA), and our Social Services Department.

My leadership journey within IMCA is a testament to my philosophy: building leadership capacities, creating growth opportunities for others, and passionately serving our community to foster a healthy, strong, and vibrant Muslim community in Central Indiana. IMCA is more than just the first Muslim community in the region—it’s the cornerstone of many firsts, including the first local Masjid, the first full-time Islamic school, and the first Weekend School. As the mother organization of Muslim communities in Central Indiana, we are dedicated to maintaining excellent relationships with all Muslim communities, nonprofit organizations, and serving the citizens of greater Indianapolis.

IMCA is the de facto representative of the Muslim community in greater Indianapolis and the voice of Islam in civic and interfaith spaces. My leadership is guided by a unique blend of my Muslim and diverse upbringing, Islamic academic education, and extensive professional experience across the government, nonprofit, business, and community sectors. I firmly believe that the best expression of Islam is one that positively impacts and serves people for the sake of Allah. This belief led me to become the first Muslim Police Chaplain in the history of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, where I proudly represent the Muslim community while serving all citizens of our city, regardless of faith, race, ethnicity, or country of origin. Additionally, I joined the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to support inmates in their journey to reenter society as productive citizens.

My leadership style is rooted in shared leadership, consultation, and a relentless focus on meeting the needs of our community. While we face significant challenges as a society, I believe in the transformative power of collaboration to address these issues. This is why I work closely not only with various Muslim communities but also across faiths and sectors to achieve the IMCA mission and create a meaningful impact that brings positive change to the Muslim community and beyond.

Empowering our youth and guiding them to become well-mannered, educated leaders is not just a passion—it’s a legacy passed down from my father and grandfather. It’s the best investment I’ve made in our community, and it’s a calling I embrace wholeheartedly. Serving our community members during their most challenging times is my true calling, and it’s an honor to do so every day. I invite you to join me in serving the Indianapolis community and beyond, proudly representing and embodying the values of our beautiful religion of Islam.
